At the age of 19, Rev. Berry was ordained in the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church. In 1974 she discovered Metropolitan Community Church of Baltimore and joined the MCC movement. Delores has served in MCC ministry as a District Coordinator, as the Asst. Pastor of MCC Baltimore, the Pastor of Good Samaritan MCC in Norfolk, the Pastor of MCC Peninsula in Newport News (and led the effort to merge Samaritan and MCCP into New Life MCC), and the Pastor of MCC Portland. Since 1988 Rev. Berry has been a singing evangelist with Delores P. Berry Evangelistic Ministries. Her humor, wisdom, and great gift for preserving the gospel music tradition while also presenting affirming theology with inclusive language makes Rev. Delores Berry a favorite guest preacher/singer in MCCs all over the world.
